CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy has its early beginnings in Osteopathic Medicine. The original contributors to this work were Andrew Taylor Still, DO, William Sutherland, DO and Rollin Becker, DO. John Upledger, DO expanded on this foundation with additional research and accessibility of training to non-physicians.
This gentle, hands-on technique optimizes flow of cerebrospinal fluid through and around the brain and spinal cord. It also gently assists the release of restrictions and compression patterns from soft tissue and bone. Lisa has been utilizing this work since 1995 and is certified in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. This work, used in conjunction with Sacred Spaces Bodywork, makes up the majority of Lisa's private practice.
CranioSacral Therapy and Sacred Spaces Bodywork are extremely safe and very effective. It is beneficial for a wide variety of health conditions and is a wonderful addition to regular self-care. People who receive this work as part of their preventive health care routine report having increased energy, better sleep and fewer illnesses. This technique is beneficial for people of all ages - infants, children, and adults.

Sacred Spaces Bodywork
The Sacred Spaces Bodywork approach to craniosacral therapy was developed by Cathy Pliscof, PT, as she sought a gentle, respectful way to honor the self-healing mechanisms of the body, mind and spirit. She began to explore a way to palpate the tissues of the body and encourage the flow of critical fluids through restricted areas. This method of holding the tissues in "Profound Neutral" led to the development of a series of techniques, for beginners as well as advanced therapists, that is known as Sacred Spaces Bodywork.
Sacred Spaces Bodywork reflects the original explorations of Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of osteopathy; William Garner Sutherland, who developed cranial osteopathy, and Rollin Becker, who further explored the unique healing processes present in all of us. All three physicians believed that good health reflects the integration of the energies of body, mind and spirit.
At the core of our healing mechanisms is the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and nourishes the brain and spinal cord. Good flow of this fluid, as well as blood and lymph flow, is critical for the health of all of our body tissues and systems including the heart and blood vessles, our organs, nerves, the immune system and the musculoskeletal system.
Sacred Spaces Bodywork uses the gentle touch of Profound Neutral to palpate these fluids and encourage their flow to nourish the organs, muscles and bones of the body. This allows the tissues to release old restrictions from disease, surgery or trauma. Restrictions in the organs, muscles and bones can be a core cause of chronic pain symptoms such as headaches, neck and back aches, arm or leg pains that have not responded to medications or other therapies. When restrictions release from the body, pain levels decrease and mobility improves. The body remembers a deeper level of function and flow, and ease is restored for many activities.
Lisa has been specializing in Sacred Spaces Bodywork since 2000. Used in conjunction with her background in craniosacral therapy, Sacred Spaces Bodywork is Lisa's primary treatment modality. Lisa is also an instructor for Sacred Spaces Seminars and teaches the four-day Foundations of Profound Neutral course to health care professionals around the country.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy has long been known for its therapeutic benefits. Not only does it aid with relaxation, but it enhances circulation of blood and lymph, and decreases muscle tension. Sessions are tailored to your needs and Lisa is committed to making your massage a comfortable experience. Please know that Lisa does not have specific training in trigger point therapy, although she can provide deeper pressure to the tissues as needed. Lisa has been a licensed massage therapist since 1995.
Intensive Treatment Sessions
Some clients may feel the need for more focused and concentrated treatment. They may feel they have achieved a plateau in their progress, or may have limited accessibility to craniosacral therapy in their area. Other clients recognize the benefits of recharging their inner resources in concentrated doses.
For these clients I offer intensive treatment programs. All programs are tailored to the individual needs of the client. Most common is a 3x3 - 3 hours of treatment per day for 3 days in a row. This allows us time to deeply explore the work and give your body time to integrate and process the changes that occur.
Clients who request intensive work seek decreased pain, improved function, increased well-being, and greater awareness and connection to their body. They are looking to develop a relationship with their body that is more peaceful and supportive. In their day to day lives many clients experience disconnection and lack of awareness of their inner resources. Time during sessions can strengthen their appreciation for who they are and the healing of which they are capable of. This awareness is invaluable for creating change in body, mind and spirit as old patterns are replaced with the flow of health and optimal function. Once your Intensive Treatment Session has been scheduled, a deposit will hold your place, with the balance due upon completion of the session.
